Currently, Mr. Godwin directs the Marching, Symphonic and Jazz Bands, teaches saxophone and flute lessons, Instrumental Methods, Secondary Methods, and Instrumental Conducting courses.
Prior to being at Geneva College, Mark taught instrumental music in public schools for twelve years, traveling with ensembles to Pittsburgh, Orlando, Washington, D.C., Columbus, and New York City for various performances.
As a musician himself, Mark has performed in many different venues, and alongside such performers as Wayne Bergeron, Chase Sanborn, Clarence Banks & Dave Keim of the Count Basie Orchestra, Ralph Lalama, Dave Lalama, Nicole Pasternak, Karolina Strassmayer, Gary Smulyan, Al Martino, B.E. Taylor, Sarah Morrow, Rick Simerly, and many others.

The marching band has a long history, spanning several decades, and is featured at many events, both on and off campus. The band performs at all home football games as well as band festivals and parades. Students of all majors are welcome to participate and join the band.
The Geneva College Golden Tornado Marching Band is composed of instrumentalists and band front squads, including majorettes, color guards, and drill team.
